First-year BTEC Creative Media students at Kingston College have been working with the Kingston International Film Festival (KIFF), making promotional videos for the festival, filming in and around Kingston. Their work spanned a range of genres from westerns and teen dramas to detective films, with each video featuring Kingston and the festival as a key part of the storyline. The final cuts were screened at FUSEBOX with representatives from the festival, including Festival Director, David Cunningham, offering valuable feedback and commenting on the high standard of work our students achieved. KIFF are now selecting their favourite pieces which will feature on the festival’s website and social media platforms.
Working with the festival’s Director of Marketing, Harriet Bonnichon, BTEC Level 3 Digital Content Creation students also created a range of promotional materials, including short, snappy videos designed for social media. They conducted interviews with festival representatives and filmmakers around FUSEBOX using these clips, along with their own original content, to encourage more young people to engage in the exciting world of film.
The collaboration between Kingston College and KIFF is a perfect example of how creativity, local culture, and student talent can come together to create something truly special.
