The voluntary contribution of students from Merton College's Aurora Provision was celebrated as part of Merton Connected's Merton Milestone Markers event. The event recognised outstanding contributions from volunteers across the borough and was attended by the Mayor of Merton.
Milestone Markers coincided with Student Volunteering Week and and highlighted the efforts of young volunteers making a real difference in Merton.
Our Aurora Provision supports young adults with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. Their students volunteer in a variety of roles, including:
- Park patrollers and café assistants at Morden Hall Park
- IT session support at Merton Vision
- Classroom helpers at Morden Primary School
- Toddler group support at St George’s Church
- Maintenance support at Tooting & Mitcham Football Club
