Kingston Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a creative interview technique session for our Level 2 Art & Design students held at Kingston College’s Creative Industries Centre. A group of creative sector guests brought insight and expertise in how to approach and carry out successful interviews, where learners gained valuable knowledge to support their preparation for their next steps.
Learners were engaged in small group activities where they carried out interview questions either for a university course in the creative sector or interviewing for a Studio Assistant or Junior Designer. Learners were given insight and understanding from a collection of creative sector professionals and greatly valued their advice and support to prepare them in the coming weeks and months for their university, Apprenticeship, or employment interviews.
Learners stated: “We really appreciated watching a live sketch of the creative professionals' role play of an interview, learning from their mannerisms, approach, and execution of an interview of what not to do and tips on how to make an interview a success!” and “We have had a really insightful and interactive morning!”.
A huge thank you to the businesses who participated: Josh Eyitayo from Thrifty Towel, Robyn Harper from Robyn Harper Photography, Kat Bhat at Digital Leopard, Peter Burch at March Branding and to Forbes Low at Kingston Chamber for making it all happen!
