Merton and Carshalton Colleges have been presented with a Mayor's Award in recognition of the partnership and support given to Age UK Merton during the pandemic.
Mayor of Merton, Cllr Sally Kenny, sent the award following a project where Merton and Carshalton Colleges teamed up to organise 200 gift bags for elderly residents living in the Borough of Merton. Catering made shortbread, Business managed donations, Media produced flyers, Foundation Learning and Health & Social Care decrorated bags and Health & Social Care delivered the bags.
Cllr Kenny praised the 'wonderful community spirit that radiated in our Borough' and said:
"The help you have offered to others and the significant difference you have made during this pandemic is admirable.
The Colleges were nominated for the award by Councillor Caroline Cooper-Marbiah.
Well done to all the students and staff involved in making such a positive difference to our local community.
