South Thames Colleges hosted an 'All Things Construction and The Built Environment Jobs and Skills Fair. The level 3 leaners at the college found the event very useful in obtaining opportunities for when they complete their studies. Other learners also found the event useful as hey explored apprenticeships and opportunities for the future. Some also received opportunities for work experience.
All the employers were very engaging with the learners, and also the referrals sent through from the DWP JCPs, in particular Streatham. The jobs fair exhibitors included the following: Wandsworth Work Match, Richmond and Wandsworth Council, Sir Robert McAlpine, PhoenixMe Ltd, JRL Group, Galliard Homes, Evolve Apprentices Ltd, Switched On London, Mace Group, Copley Ltd, DGP Logistics, Step-A-Head, Quantem, O'Halloran and Brien; Gloster; Reed in Partnership; NatWest Bank also hosted a Business Builder workshop for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The jobs and skills fair was followed by an Employer Networking Lunch, with Dr Oliver Jones, Research Director from Ryder, delivering a keynote speech on 'The Changing Face of Construction.'
This was a very successful two fold event which was of benefit to learners, job seekers, general community and employers.
