Safeguarding

Hannah Lelden has been at Carshalton College on the Supported Internship for the last two years.

Hannah came to us as a mature student who found working independently a real challenge. Hannah has Autism and struggles with mental health. However, through hard work and determination, Hannah is now on a 4-week internship placement with Sutton Sainsbury’s.

The placement is a 12-hour contract with Sainsbury’s as a café assistant.

Rahan Sherwood has also been at Carshalton College on the Supported Internship programme for two academic years.

Rahan has epilepsy and autism and found it difficult to focus and have a consistent approach to work. He has tried a range of work placements to see which one was most suited. Finally, he found that a customer-facing role kept him on task after completing four different work placements for his internship. Rahan has now successfully gained part-time employment at Empire cinema in Sutton.
