Meet BTEC Level 2 Digital, Games and Animation (Art and Design Skills) student, Kayla Stone, who is continuing her studies at Kingston College on the BTEC Level 3 Digital Art, Animation and Games Design:

Why did you choose to study a BTEC and why did you choose Kingston College?

When I first started searching for colleges to attend, Kingston College was the one that caught my eye immediately because of their wide and seemingly endless range of Art and Design subjects they offered, I felt like I had finally found a course that didn't restrict me to doing only half of what I truly wanted to do! I had heard so many good things about the college from friends and was not disappointed when I first came here as it was somehow even better than I had expected.

Your plans after you complete your course?

I plan to continue on the BTEC Level 3 Digital Art, Animation and Games Design at Kingston College as I still want to learn more about what I could do to better myself for my future career, as I am very interested in joining the Video Game Industry as a Character Artist and Animator.

Favourite part of your course?

You are given more freedom with your work than you could ever imagine! Throughout my projects I have felt fully in control about what I'm making, which left me motivated to keep doing even better and trying even harder than before. My teachers provide me with useful feedback that is always useful to me when I'm feeling stuck or challenged at times.

Is College life what you expected? Have there been any surprises?

College life is definitely not how I expected it to be, but not in a bad way! At the start, I struggled with completing tasks and keeping track of everything I was supposed to do, but as the weeks went by I felt myself adapting my workflow to the environment and feeling a sense of pride at the work I had accomplished once I got used to life at college. Don't doubt yourself if you struggle at first, it's happened to all of us!

Any advice to those thinking about applying for your course?

If you're going to apply to this course, I would advise you to keep a notebook and write down what tasks you've been assigned and what you have to do, as well as constantly logging your work in your website as you work through your projects.
