Ling Zhang is currently studying ESOL Entry 3 at Merton College.
Ling says: “One of the most memorable experiences was being interviewed by Dorota, the ESOL Curriculum Manager at Merton. I felt very anxious because I couldn't understand English, having not used it for nearly 20 years, and I ended up in tears during the interview process. It was a difficult moment at the time, but it reminds me of how far I have come and how much my language skills have improved.
I am grateful for all the support and opportunities I’ve received while studying ESOL at Merton. I have learned a lot academically and personally, including making friends from different countries. I know these experiences will shape me to be a better person in the future.
I am excited about the future and I’m confident that, with the skills and knowledge I’ve gained, I’ll be able to overcome any obstacles that come my way. To this day, Dorota’s friendly smile around Merton serves as a motivation for me. I am thankful to her and the College for shaping me into the person I am today."
