This year, the School of Creative and Commercial Industries partnered with Palace for Life in delivering the NCS (National Citizen Service) programme exclusively to our students.
The past 2 years have been so tough and unprecedented, so the team at Carshalton College decided to enrich and enhance the study programme with these additional activities and support with the Crystal Palace Football Clubs official charity which has been working with the south London community for over 25 years. The aim of the foundation is to use the power of football and the Palace brand to change the lives of young people across south London, particularly the most hard-to-reach and hard-to-help.
As part of this collaboration, the Palace for Life Foundation delivered a 5-week programme of NCS Skills Booster sessions and Premier League Inspires sessions to focus on building resilience, tackling racism and building positive relationships. The students who completed the Skills Booster session then progressed on to a series of weeklong activities including, paintballing at GoPaintballing in Whyteleafe, a trip to the GoApe high ropes in Battersea Park and bush crafting skills at Frylands Wood in Addington. Day 4 consisted of the Navy coming into Carshalton College and leading a jam-packed fun day of activities focusing on building confidence. The week ended on day 5 with a series of entrepreneurial and enterprise challenges.
Phase 3 is the Social Action and Community projects which the students are currently working on.
Three activities have been identified;
- Raising awareness for the Brain Tumour Charity which is the chosen charity this year for the School of Creative and Commercial Industries. To find out more click here

Anna Johnson Deputy Head of School added: This is the second year that Carshalton College have partnered with the Palace for Life Foundation and we hope to work with them more in the future. The older learners in the School of Creative and Commercial Industries worked on the Premier League Inspires programme too for the first time this year which we are really excited about. This has been such a hard 2 years for students across the UK and at Carshalton College, we are truly committed to creating enriching and positive study programmes.
