South Thames College is delighted to announce that Jiajie ‘Sunny’ Yu, has passed her initial work probation with flying colours, and has been confirmed in full-time employment as a member of the team at Seahorse Nursery, an Ofsted Grade 1 Childcare provider in Wimbledon.
Sunny first started at the nursery in 2019/2020, completing a 45 day Industrial Placement, alongside her Level 2 Childcare course.
The placement proved to be so successful, that at the end of the year Sunny was offered the opportunity to progress to employment with the nursery.
Carly Wray, Manager at Seahorse Nursery, commented: “After a successful placement with Seahorse Nursery, Sunny took up the opportunity to take on a full time role working with the baby room at the Wimbledon Park branch.”
Stephanie Davidson, South Thames College Employability Coordinator, who organises the placements for Childcare learners, added: “It has been an absolute pleasure placing Sunny with Seahorse Nursery. She has shown so much growth and development since she first started her Industrial Placement last year. Sunny was always willing and interested in supporting the nursery staff, as well as the other learners. I wish her luck with her career and journey. We are really grateful to Carly and the team at Seahorse for all of the continued opportunities they provide for our learners.”
This placement was part of an on-going partnership between South Thames College and Seahorse Nursery, which has seen a number of learners complete successful, high-quality placements, and a number of staff at the nursery complete accredited professional qualifications with the College, which support their continued professional development.
