South Thames College is very proud to announce that 27 of the learners who completed its new Civil Service Academy in Term 1, have now progressed into employment, many of them in the Civil Service.

This innovative programme sees learners complete a mixed programme of preparation to apply for up-coming Civil Service job vacancies, and developing their own Employability & Business Administration skills through the completion of NCFE qualifications.

The programme has proven to be hugely popular, with residents from Wandsworth, Lambeth, Kingston, and Sutton successfully completing over the past few months.

Learners are referred to the programme by their local DWP Job Centre Plus (JCP), and all 27 who have now gained employment were supported to attend by staff at their local JCP in the Lambeth area.

In light of the new Government guidelines on social distancing, the programme is doing being delivered virtually, and initial feedback from learners has been very positive.

Shakirah Nevers (Partnership Support Lead for DWP JCP Lambeth & Southwark) commented: “I would like to thank South Thames College for their excellent delivery, good partnership working, and also everyone in the different DWP JCP sites for their referrals, and a big thanks to Peace Okoro (DWP JCP Job Centre – Streatham) and all the EA’s for their contribution.”
