We welcomed Mayhem Theatre Company to Kingston College’s ACT Theatre during October half term for a spectacular production of ‘Rock of Ages’. Students on our BTEC Technical Theatre acted as crew and BTEC Media students filmed the show.
Ben Sassoon, Lighting Designer at Mayhem, had nothing but fantastic things to say about working with our students: “The students have extremely impressed me with their skills, dedication, and professionalism. No task was too big or too small, and their abilities were a legitimate match to those I have worked with in the professional world… their contributions were beyond the call of duty… they have bright futures ahead of them!
"This is the second production I have been involved with at the ACT, and it is clear to me that this venue has something very special; students and staff who genuinely care about theatre and the arts. This is unfortunately rather unique and rare; so I applaud Kingston College for creating an environment for arts to thrive.”
Our Technical Theatre students continue to thrive in external work opportunities where their skills are highly sought after. George, one of our current students, has just been nominated for Best Lighting Design for an off-West End production. Additionally, last year’s graduate, Cole, secured a prestigious Apprenticeship at the National Theatre, chosen from a competitive pool of about 5,000 applicants.
