On Friday 1 October, Level 3 Public/Protective Services students met with senior management from London Fire Brigade.
London Fire Brigade Borough Commander, John Ryan, and New Malden Fire Station Manager, Tamer Ozdemir, provided students with an engaging session about the role and responsibilities of London Fire Brigade, including the role of London Fire Brigade when responding to emergencies and major incidents. The important links between London Fire Brigade, the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service as well as the exciting career opportunities and benefits of working for London Fire Brigade was also discussed.
Students were encouraged to attend London Fire Brigade Open Days at Paddington Fire Station. A number of students said they would be very interested in attending the Open Day and learning more about London Fire Brigade.
Tutor Ciaran Fox said: “This was a very interactive, engaging session with the students asking lots of questions. I will be liaising with London Fire Brigade staff to arrange visits to London Fire stations for our students to gain more knowledge and experience about the important role of London Fire Brigade.”
