Our Multi-skills students were treated to an excellent interactive session and presentation from Howdens, renowned as the UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of fitted kitchens, appliances, and joinery products for trade professionals.

The presentation was a great success, with learners gathering outside the lecture theatre from around 09:10am, eager for the 09:30am start. Over 100 learners from Level 1 and Level 2 Multi-skills courses attended the session from Howdens.

Howdens arrived with a trolley full of equipment and tools to donate to the College, along with boxes of gifts and goodies for those in attendance. The students were highly engaged throughout.

In addition to delivering an insightful talk, Howdens introduced a live project brief, challenging learners to “build and design architraves around new doors and frames.” Upon completing their projects, the students’ work will be judged by Howdens representatives when they return to the College. Several students aged 18 and over also signed up for a Howdens trade account, allowing them to purchase trade products at a discounted rate.

Howdens expressed how impressed they were with the strong turnout and enthusiasm of the learners, affirming their interest in continued collaboration with the College. This support will include future donations of furniture, products, and kitchen units for College use.

A big thank you goes to Sibel Arnold, Estella Billington, and Marcin Grzeszczyk from Howdens, as well as Matt, Tom, John, and Errol from the Construction department, for their efforts in making the session such a success.
