BTEC Graphic Design students entered a competition organised by building and civil engineering company, McLaughlin & Harvey, to design posters for their site hoardings highlighting the different job opportunities within the construction industry.

The first year Graphic Design students, along with students from other Kingston Borough Sixth Forms, embraced the opportunity and with only one day’s notice, submitted their designs with a fantastic three chosen for display on the construction site hoardings for the new Kingston HQ for consumer giant Unilever.

The winning students were thrilled with the outcome commenting:

“I enjoyed working on this project with the other students on my team as I got to experience working for an actual company", Bogomil Petrov.

"I had a great time working on the construction poster with my peers and, with all of our ideas, I believe that we made a great poster", Jude Van der Walt.

"My experience of working on the poster was fun and it helped us develop team-building skills", Maliha Khan.

“With my partners, Byron and Valerija, I experienced a great time working on this project and being able to explore different ways to design our construction poster”, Bakhtaawar Sheikh.

Alison Richards, Lecturer - Graphic Design, commented: “We are so proud of the students - they worked very professionally to plan and create their designs in just one day! We saw great teamwork and leadership in the research, planning and creative design stages, followed by very generous sharing of their digital design knowledge and skills in order to produce the finished posters to such a high standard.”
