Hope Woolvet, who studied A Level+ Education pathway at Kingston College, has accepted a place at St Mary’s University to study BA (Hons) Education. Hope achieved a Distinction (equivalent to an A at A Level) in her BTEC in Applied Psychology, a B in A Level English Language & Literature, and a B in A Level Sociology. She says the combination of A Levels and BTEC allowed her to develop a variety of study skills:

“I chose the A Level+ Education Pathway as I hadn’t felt ready to commit to one specialist subject, unlike many other courses often available at colleges. The combination of A Levels and BTECs allowed me to study a diverse range of subjects I felt were crucial to my future aspiration of becoming a teacher.

“Furthermore, they helped me develop a variety of study skills. For example, BTEC Psychology encouraged me to be independent, allowing me to research areas that piqued my interest. A Levels helped me confront my fears of working under pressure. All of this combined will help me study education at university.

“Throughout the course, I was given the opportunity to go on a range of interesting trips. In English A Level, we visited the British Library and the Globe Theatre which gave us a glimpse into the Jacobean Era and helped us understand the history behind the texts we studied. In Sociology, we visited the British Museum which allowed us to see how different aspects of society developed over time.

“Overall, I’d recommend Kingston College because of the range of fantastic tutors who help support you throughout your course. Jodie and Laura provided consistent feedback and really pushed us to achieve our best.”
