Level 1 Certificate in Digital Media

The Level 1 Introductory Certificate in Digital Media is a one-year programme delivered through exciting project-based assignments. This qualification provides a broad introduction to the subject and gives learners the opportunity to demonstrate developing skills in various disciplines within Digital Media, including: Video Production, Production Planning, Creating Audio Recordings and Advertising, as well as important transferable skills including: organisation and personal progression planning.

Alongside this course you will also be able to retake those all-important English and Maths GCSE qualifications.

  • Entry Requirements


    3 x GCSEs at any grade including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications. Don't have any formal qualifications? We can assess you to check learner level and eligibility.

  • Course Content


    The course provides a broad knowledge and understanding of using video camera, sound equipment, mixing desks and tripods through practical projects with no exams. You will learn to use creative software, work as part of a team, plan a project, storyboard your ideas and film and edit them. The course is unit based with continuous assessment and feedback throughout the year.

  • Progression Next Steps


    Students who successfully complete the course can progress on to a BTEC Level 2 course in a related subject, such as Level 2 Creative Media Skills, Digital, Games and Animation, Music Industry or Performing & Production Arts. There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education.

    This is a project-based qualification. During the course, you will complete several projects which will be assessed and will go towards your final grade. There are no exams.
