Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship - Level 6

The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship covers a range of Managerial skills, knowledge and behaviours and includes the BA(Hons) Management and Business Degree, validated by Kingston University.

Apprenticeships are flexible and are designed to offer a structured programme of learning to fit around the needs of the individual and employer.

Learning takes place mainly during employment through the development of on the job skills, supported by college tuition which will take place one day a fortnight. Both the 'on and off job' elements of the Apprenticeship lead to nationally recognised qualifications.

  • Entry Requirements


    Candidates should be employed in a management or supervisory role and require the support of their employer.

    Typically, candidates will have A levels ( or equivalent) or existing level 3 qualifications, and English, Maths and ICT at level 2.

    Typically this apprenticeship lasts 3 years, plus End Point Assessment preparation, and will require study at Kingston college one day a fortnight, during the college term.

  • Progression Next Steps


    Successful apprentices will have the option to apply for professional recognition as Chartered Managers and Members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI) and/or as a member of the Institute for Leadership & Management or other relevant professional body.

  • Additional Information


    The course will use a mix of online resources, academic texts and knowledge input from experienced qualified teachers and blended learning. The students will create a workplace skills portfolio. To achieve final qualification an end point assessment will need to take place to test skills, knowledge and behaviour.

  • Course Structure


    The course is split into a number of phases: On-programme Training and development takes place during this part of the apprenticeship, with apprentices attending college one day a week plus assessment in the workplace. During this time, you will develop a portfolio. During their training, apprentices will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected from a competent Professional Manager.

    End Point Assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an apprentice goes through to complete their apprenticeship. The apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the overall grade available is distinction, pass or fail.

    The apprenticeship duration is 3 years plus the EPA. One day a week at College, with a minimum four days per week employed in suitable employment.
