Level 3 Diploma in Hair Services (19+ years)
This course aims to provide learners with a range of skills suitable to gain employment within a commercial salon environment. The course will include demonstrations from the Headmasters Artistic Team. Students will train initially on head blocks to build creative skills and essential knowledge required before transitioning onto live models within our commercial salon, Headmasters Academy at Kingston College. This hands-on client approach will ensure learners are confident to apply a range of cutting, styling and colour applications ready for the salon floor, or to go out into self-employment. Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the skills and knowledge of health and safety and customer service, as well as practical skills such as advanced cutting and colouring.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must have successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate at mostly merit/distinction level in Hairdressing. ESOL students must have achieved Level 1 Numeracy and Level 2 in English. Good IT skills are essential, as is access to a computer and internet outside of College. Places are also subject to satisfactory references, successful interview and diagnostic screening.You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other to include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference/school report.

This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for employment as a senior stylist.Course Content:
- Monitor and maintain Health & Safety practice in the salon
- Consultation support for colleagues on hair services
- and dress hair using a variety of techniques
- Cut women's hair to create a variety of looks
- Colour hair to create a variety of looks -Creative hairdressing design skills

Progression Next Steps
Learners can progress into employment in a senior stylist role or go onto further training on a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Hair and Beauty Management. -
Additional Information
September start. One year course with attendance 2-3 days a week at College (this could include evenings), with work experience at a salon one day a week.
