BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching (RQF)
This qualification is intended for post-16 learners wanting to progress directly to employment in the coaching and development sector as an assistant coach. As well as learning about the theoretical aspects of sport coaching students will also develop critical skills such as teamwork, leadership and communication to support their progression into employment. Practical sessions will take place in the colleges industry standard gym and sports hall facilities.

Course Content
This qualification is intended for post-16 learners wanting to progress directly to employment in the coaching and development sector as an assistant coach. In classes you will study three core units: Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry Health and Wellbeing Sport and Developing Coaching SkillsYou will develop the skills to plan and implement coaching programmes for athletes/clients to improve their sporting performance. During this aspect of the course you will complete practical and theory lecturers working in groups and individually preparing you to understand the sports coaching industry.
You will have a personal tutor who supports and guides you through the course. You will meet with your personal tutor for group meetings and for personal one to one meetings on a regular basis. The course will be predominantly coursework and you will be assessed in a variety of ways to develop your professional skills - for example: presentations, practical's, role plays and essays.
