Level 2 BTEC in Digital, Games and Animation (Art and Design skills)

The level 2 Extended Certificate is a one year programme delivered through exciting project based assignments. On this course you will explore and develop skills in various disciplines within Digital Art and Design including Games and Animation. You will gain employability and life skills through the many extra curricula activities such as work experience and live briefs. Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress onto higher level qualifications such as Level 3 pathways in Digital Design, Games Design, Photography, Graphic Design, Art and Design, Creative Media, Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.

    Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English , or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

  • Course Content


    You will study two mandatory modules: Exploring and Developing Art and Design Skills and Personal Development. These will include Units A1: Skills Development and A2: Art and Design project. You will explore a range of digital art and design disciplines and acquire knowledge and skills about:

    • Hardware and software
    • Narrative and Game play
    • Interface design
    • Photography
    • Image manipulation
    • Graphics
    • Animation
    • Drawing and visual communication
    • Colour
    • Clients and end users
    • Employability skills This is a practical project-based qualification. During the course, you will complete several projects which will be assessed and will go towards your final grade.
  • Progression Next Steps


    Students who successfully complete the course throughout the year can progress on to a BTEC Level 3 course in a related subject.
