  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other this will include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference / school report.

    A portfolio or example of your work to demonstrate that you have the appropriate level of skill required to succeed on the course. We love to see your creativity!

    4 x GCSE's at C/4 or above, or a Level 2 Certificate / Extended Certificate or above (at merit or above) in a relevant subject.

    You will have gained either English and/or maths at GCSE C/4 or above, or L2 Functional skills in English and/or maths.

  • Course Content


    You will benefit from outstanding studio spaces and fully resourced digital labs whilst studying at our Creative Industries Centre. Industry standard Apple Mac computers provide professional design & editing software including the Adobe Creative Cloud - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere Pro.

    You will study two mandatory learning and teaching modules:

    In Unit A1 Skills Development: Learners will complete a series of video production projects, developing the production, software and creative skills needed to successfully complete media work.

    Unit A2 Creative Project: This is a larger single project where you can pitch what you want to work on, based on a brief. This is your chance to show off the skills you have learnt through the year and demonstrate your ability to create a successful media product.

    Throughout the year, you will be challenged to write, plan, direct, produce, edit and promote your own digital content, with support from a team of encouraging and experienced teaching staff.

    Teaching and learning will cover:

    • Production techniques in the TV studio, including green screen technologies
    • Specialist equipment and software to create and edit effective digital content from idea conception to the final product
    • Factual documentary making
    • Industry awareness: attracting an audience, growing your online community and building your career
  • Progression Next Steps


    The National Foundation Diploma in Digital Content Creation is a one year full-time skills development year and is equivalent to 1.5 A-levels. On successful completion of this qualification, the natural progression is to advance on to the second year Extended Diploma course (top-up). The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A-levels. This course will elevate your online presence setting you up with the skills to build your brand, knowledge and ability to progress your career in the ever-evolving and exciting Digital Creator Sector.

    There are also many opportunities available to you for progression to undergraduate level study (Higher Education) at the College and wider South Thames College's Group.

    During your time with us you will have access to a dedicated team of careers and education advisors who will help you as you take the next steps towards achieving your future ambitions.

  • Additional Information


    While some materials and equipment are provided, you will be expected to provide your own headphones, hard drive or USB stick and SD card, which are available to buy as a starter kit at enrolment.

    There will be a number of trips and visits throughout the course which will incur some costs.

  • Course Structure


    Highly practical and progression focused. All assessment is holistic, based on portfolios of work. Evidence is generated through practical projects, briefs and workshops; this prepares you for progression to the Digital Creator industry through the development of portfolios and materials for progression.
