Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies CPCAB - Wednesday Day-time
This qualification is for those who want to:
- Advance towards becoming a counsellor.
- Deepen knowledge of counselling theory, ethics, and mental health.
- Prepare for professional counselling in an agency setting.
This course is intended for candidates who want to develop their counselling skills further from the Level 2 course and to understand the theoretical roots of counselling for use in an occupational setting. For many, this will be a further step towards becoming a counselling practitioner.
You will learn about the core theoretical frameworks of counselling in more depth and develop more advanced counselling skills, such as confrontation and linking.
At Level 3, learners will be encouraged to study independently and develop autonomy in the learning process. They will be expected to dedicate at least 2-3 hours outside the class time to practice self-reflection and reading. Independent critical thinking will also be encouraged, with the class discussions progressing from questions for understanding to the exchange of ideas.
Counselling skills will be applied at a more advanced level and candidates are encouraged to reflect on personal challenges that could affect the way they counsel. Candidates at Level 3 should be willing to engage with self-reflection on a weekly basis, reflecting on intense feelings and personal challenges.
