L2 - Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children and Young People (NCFE)
This course has been specifically designed for students who have an interest in working with children and young people. As well as developing theoretical knowledge, the course covers practical activities such as playdough, arts and crafts and parachute games which will help you explore the ways in which children learn. Students will also develop key critical skills such as teamwork and communication to support progression into employment or the next level of study.

Entry Requirements
We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.
4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.
Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English , or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.
You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other to include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference/school report.

Course Content
Course ContentOver the year, the course will consist of 6 Units:
- Craft activities with young children
- Accident prevention and fire safety when babysitting
- Caring for young children in a babysitting environment
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- Importance of play for early learning
- Young children's development
Students will also take part in a work placement.

Progression Next Steps
Upon successful completion of the Level 2, learners can progress to Level 3 in Childcare and Education.There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education.

Additional Information
Learners on this course will be expected to attend work placement for 1 day a week.This is a full-time, one-year course.
