People Professional Apprenticeship - Level 5

People Professional Apprenticeship - Level 5 is suitable for i.e. mid-level to senior HR managers. Individuals in this role will use their HR expertise to provide and lead the delivery of HR solutions to the business. They will need to link the work they do to the context and priorities of the business.

Employers always need competent and efficient HR staff. Learners will gain a qualification for things that they already can do and are competent at, whilst developing new skills and acquiring valuable background knowledge which will also lead to additional qualifications.

  • Entry Requirements


    You must be in suitable employment to do an apprenticeship. Ideally an apprentice will also have Maths and English at grade C/4 and above.

    Note that an apprentice cannot sit their end point assessment without a level 2 qualification gained in Maths and English.

    Apprentices without level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completion of their Apprenticeships.

  • Progression Next Steps


    Successful completion of this standard will enable the individual to apply for Associate Membership (Assoc CIPD) of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

  • Course Structure


    The course is split into a number of phases:

    On-programme Training and development takes place during this part of the apprenticeship, with apprentices attending college one day a week plus assessment in the workplace. During this time, you will develop a portfolio. During their training, apprentices will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected from a competent HR professional.

    End Point Assessment (EPA) is the final stage that an apprentice goes through to complete their apprenticeship. The apprentice must show their learning to an independent end-point assessor and the overall grade available is distinction, pass or fail.

    The apprenticeship duration is a minimum of 36 months plus EPA. One day a week at Kingston College, with a minimum four days per week employed in suitable employment.

  • Assessment Details


    Once the course has been completed, the Apprentice will be put forward for an End Point Assessment (EPA). This will involve;

    • Portfolio of evidence - Short research assignment
    • Knowledge assessment - multiple-choice or short written questions
    • Practical task and Interview - The interview will cover behaviours and skills not covered in practical task
