AAQ Business Analytics & IT Pathway
BTEC Level 3 Nationals (AAQs) are for post-16 students aiming to progress to higher education as a route to graduate level employment or Apprenticeships. With their applied and practical focus, they perfectly complement other AAQ's or A levels as a part of a mixed programme of learning, helping to bring more theoretical learning to life. As part of the Business Analytics and IT AAQ pathway students will undertake; AAQ in IT AAQ in Data Analytics And either A level Maths or an Extended Certificate in Business. When you study on this course, you will be developing your skills of analysis, problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration - all core qualities that top universities and employers' value for success in the STEM sector. We offer a curriculum that is enriched by input from local employers and will enable you to find out about clear career pathways into a wide range of IT based jobs.
The majority of our students progress to universities where they study a wide variety of degrees including Cyber security, Computer Science, Digital Media and Computing and Management Artificial Intelligence.
For those students not wishing to progress to university, comprehensive support is provided to help them find alternatives such as employment or Apprenticeships. In the past, students have progressed onto employment as Network Engineers.

Course Content
Alternative Academic Qualification in Information Technology allows students to study the fundamental knowledge of Information Technology covering the role and implications of using Information Technology systems and cyber-security threats and how to manage attacks. Students will also develop important skills for creating websites to meet a specific purpose and to manage data through the development of a relational database solution.Alternative Academic Qualification in Data Analytics allows students to study and equip students with the confidence to use knowledge and skills relevant for progression to undergraduate study in IT or data-related fields. Students will develop practical skills for gathering, storing, analysing and accessing data as well as visualisation and presentation.
Students will choose another qualification to study which will either be A level Mathematics or Extended Certificate in Business.
