L3 - Diploma in Complementary Therapies (VTCT) 19+
Also known as holistic therapies, complementary therapies have been effectively used for centuries seeking to enhance the mind-body-spirit connection to improve well-being, lower stress and boost the immune system.
Complementary Therapists are in high demand, and in the UK alone over 50% of us use some form of complementary and alternative medicine in our lifetime. Our Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies is a comprehensive vocational qualification, and on completion of this exciting and relevant one year part time course, you will be equipped with the necessary skills and attributes to work in a range of interesting, meaningful and varied settings including: commercial complementary therapy clinics, commercial spas and salons, NHS hospitals and care homes, running your own home-based or mobile business. You may also choose to progress to further specialist study.
The course is aimed at learners aged 19 and over.

Entry Requirements
No Prior level 2 or Level 3 qualification needed. You will need to be an adult aged 19 and over and ideally have 3 GCSE grades C/D to include English language or be able to demonstrate that you are able to work the required level 3 standard. Previous knowledge of human biology is ideal or keen interest in the subject. You will need to have a mature, professional and focused approach to learning with good interpersonal skills. Acceptance on the course will be subject to attendance/ interview with your Tutor.You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other to include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference/school report.

Course Content
You will develop a range of practical and technical skills enabling you to use body massage, reflexology & aromatherapy techniques to help promote relaxation, rejuvenation, stress relief and self-healing. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients. The qualification has been designed to prepare and support you to help you gain a career as a complementary therapist as the units relate directly to the specific job role as a complementary therapist which will prepare you for the industry. The units will include:Business practice for complementary therapists
Principles & practices of complementary therapies
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapists
Body massage for complementary therapists
Provide aromatherapy for complementary therapists

Progression Next Steps

Assessment Details
To achieve this qualification, you must carry out and document evidence of the following case studies:Provide body massage for complementary therapies: You must carry out and document evidence for at least 30 treatments
Provide aromatherapy for complementary therapies: You must carry out and document evidence for at least 60 treatments
- Provide reflexology for complementary therapies: You must carry out and document evidence for at least 100 treatments
