Access to Higher Education Diploma - Art & Design
The Access to HE Diploma - Art & Design is designed for adults aged 19+ who are aiming to progress onto undergraduate and higher diploma courses. Day time study is approximately 10 hours delivered over two to three days a week, although this is subject to change each year. It is strongly advisable, but not essential, to have GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade 4 or above before undertaking an Access Diploma. If you do not have these qualifications, we aim to give you the opportunity to study them at Kingston College alongside the Access course.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure their current and future qualifications comply with the entry requirements of any university to which they intend to progress.

Entry Requirements
We will invite you to a 'Meet the Tutor' event. You will need to show your commitment and creativity and bring a portfolio of recent art and design work. During the meeting you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.A satisfactory reference is required from an employer or relevant professional other, in order to further progress the application. This ensures we can support you to achieve, on the right course for your skills and ambitions.
It is advisable to have GCSEs in English and mathematics at grade C/4 or above before undertaking an Access Diploma. If you do not have these qualifications, you may be given the opportunity to study these subjects at Kingston College alongside the Access course. Applicants are recommended to have good level of English language levels and may be required to take initial testing to ensure they have the levels needed to complete all areas of the curriculum.

Course Content
The Access to Higher Education Diploma - Art and Design will introduce learners to the breadth of disciplines across art, design and craft areas. Learners will participate in both theoretical and practical workshops that will enable them to assemble an effective and personal portfolio to support applications and progression to higher education courses in a wide range of art and design subjects. Specialist workshops include fine art, printmaking, 3D design, graphics and textiles as well as contextual modules looking at art and design from 1900 through to present day. -
Progression Next Steps
Learners will be able to progress onto a wide range of art and design Higher Education courses including those offered at Kingston College including the Foundation Degree (FdA) and BA (Hons) Art & Design, BA (Hons) Digital Arts, Foundation Degree (FdA) Fashion & Textiles. -
