Level 2 Performing Arts

Do you dream of a career performing on stage?

Our Level 2 Performing and Production Arts Course is ideal for those who are looking for a career in this sector, to develop transferable skills and knowledge and move forward in your career path.

You will work towards a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts Skills together with GCSE Maths and English as part of your study programme.

The Level 2 BTEC is assessed through practical/portfolio-based coursework with no exams.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    3 x GCSEs at any grade including Maths and English or previous vocational qualification.

  • Course Content


    You will be assessed on your practical skills which will be made up of workshop, rehearsal and performance/production footage and skills development sessions. You will keep a log of your creative processes to include reflective evaluations and independent research. You will undertake productions throughout the year in our in-house theatre, both on stage and backstage gaining valuable industry experience to support your future progression.

    You will study units which include Skills and Professional Development Creative Interpretation Auditions, Portfolios and Progression Opportunities Preparing and Performing to an Audience

  • Progression Next Steps


    The course provides progression routes into work, apprenticeship or further study at level 3. The course will give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills in the performing and production arts sector and supporting progression on to further study.

    There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education.

    During your time with us you will have access to a dedicated team of careers and education advisors who will help you as you take the next steps towards achieving your goals.

  • Additional Information


    We expect you to improve your English and Mathematics during this year. This course allows you the opportunity to re-sit GCSE Mathematics and English.

    Guest speakers are invited in to talk to students as part of the college's Inspiring Future's programme and provide insights into various careers as well as how to start your own business. There is also potential to undertake a work experience placement during the course.

    A recommended kit list will be provided, all black clothing will be required for practical workshops. Some trips and visits throughout the course will incur costs.
