The HNC Fine Art Course is delivered within the specialist Creative Industries Centre in central Kingston offering students invaluable on site resources, studio spaces as well as expert teaching and technical support. Starting with an introduction to the key concepts and practical skills within fine art, the course is designed to develop a strong foundation in creative professional practice, critical thinking, and the ability to work successfully as an artist. You will explore a range of traditional and contemporary fine art techniques and media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and digital arts, while also engaging with relevant contextual theory.

Kingston College offers a comprehensive HNC and HND Fine Art qualification designed to extend students' skills in a wide range of techniques and media. The course explores traditional and contemporary fine art practices, including: printmaking, textiles, digital design, photography, painting and sculpture.A dedicated team of specialist lecturers and technicians support students throughout their studies develop a strong foundation in creative professional practice, critical thinking, and the ability to work successfully as an artist. You will also benefit from the opportunity to exhibit your work in our professional gallery alongside a range of talks a visits from guest speakers within the creative industries
Learning Outcomes for Assessment Units:
A1: Concept & Development (85 credits)
A1.1 Explore the history, theories and developments related to the area of practice. A1.2 Explore and develop ideas, based on an iterative approach to problem solving in creative practice. A1.3 Explore technical knowledge and skills necessary to support creative practice. A1.4 Explore professional knowledge, behaviours and practices within the sector. A1.5 Explore techniques, media and formats to communicate ideas and concepts for diverse audiences.
A2: Creative Project (35 credits)
A2.1 Apply relevant contextual knowledge to inform a creative project. A2.2 Analyse a given brief to develop creative solutions, applying an iterative development process. A2.3 Apply technical knowledge and skill in the production of a project outcome. A2.4 Demonstrate professional knowledge, behaviours and practices in response to a given brief. A2.5 Present the development process and outcomes of a creative project for a specified audience.
