Fashion: Make a Kimono

This evening course introduces adult learners to the art of designing and constructing a traditional-inspired kimono. Rooted in both historical context and contemporary fashion practice, the course combines pattern-cutting, garment construction, and creative textile exploration.

  • Entry Requirements

Whilst there are no official entry requirements, this course is aimed at intermediate level makers. If you are new to Fashion, please look at one of our beginners courses such as Fashion: Sew Your Own Clothes.

  • Course Content

Students will learn essential sewing and garment-making techniques while developing a deeper understanding of kimono structure, fabric choice, and finishing methods. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on studio practice, participants will create a fully finished, wearable kimono by the end of the course.

Ideal for intermediate makers looking to expand their skills, this course encourages creativity while building confidence in garment construction within a supportive environment.

  • Progression Next Steps

You could progress onto our follow-on course Fashion: Make a Garment.
