L2 Certificate in Sport (QCF) OCR in conjunction with Bedfont Sports Football Club
The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Sport is is aimed at students who are on the Men's Football Academy. It is a one year programme that covers the scientific themes and concepts of sport. The course aims to provide studies in sport which are directly related to the changing needs of employers in specific areas of the sport and recreation industry. The development of critical skills such as teamwork, leadership and communication allows students to progress to the next level or into employment.
Students can retake English or Maths at GCSE alongside this course if needed. The course may lead to a higher qualification in sports coaching or progression directly into the industry. Most students progress onto the BTEC L3 Sports Coaching and continue playing for the Football Academy.

Entry Requirements
We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.
4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject.
Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English , or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.
You will be invited to trial for Bedfont Sports FC.
You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other to include attendance. This is to ensure we can support to be able to achieve well on the course. Applicants with 85% or below attendance will have been deemed not to have met this criteria. All applicants are given an opportunity to discuss any evidence based mitigating circumstances that may have affected the reference/school report.

Course Content
This course provides students with an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in the sports coaching industry or progression to the next level.The units studied may include:
- Practical sports performance
- Anatomy and Physiology for sports performance
- Industry/Work Placement - Bedfont Sport FC Academy (Training and matches)

Progression Next Steps
BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate/Diploma in Sport Coaching (subject to meeting the entry criteria which includes achievement of the Level 2 in Sport at high grade).There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education.
