The 19+ Discretionary Learner Support Fund is available to students aged 19 years and over (on the 31st of August), who have a total household income of less than £30,000 per year, or are in receipt of, or supported by someone who is in receipt of, a qualifying benefit.
The funding is offered to assist them to continue in full time education and training by providing a contribution towards the costs of attending college such as transport, childcare (students who are 20+ only), equipment, UCAS applications, university visits/interviews and other course related costs.
Please note that this is a limited fund. Students will need to meet the eligibility criteria and maintain a minimum of 85% attendance to receive support. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.
Am I eligible for the 19+ Discretionary Learner Support Fund?
To be eligible you must meet the criteria above and:
- Be an enrolled student on a government funded course.
- Have 'home' student status or have been granted full 'refugee' or 'asylum seeker' status
- Have been 'ordinarily resident' in the UK, EU or EEA continuously for the last three years with 'settled status' which means having indefinite leave to remain
- Have a total gross, household income of less than £30,000 per year or be supported by someone who is in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit.
