What is the deadline for applications?

There is no actual deadline for applications.  We continue to process applications during enrolment.  However, to secure a place before the summer holidays we would suggest you make an application no later than 1st June.

Can I apply for more than one course and more than one college?

You can apply to as many colleges as you want.  Each college will allow students to hold a maximum of two offers. 

How do I apply for a course

Please search for your chosen course on our website.

For most courses, there will be an apply or enrol button located on the individual course leaflet page.

For other courses, there will be an email address for you to register your interest.

I don’t have any qualifications, can I still apply to your college?

All students need to ensure that they meet the entry criteria of their particular course before they apply (we ask to see original certificates at enrolment or for students aged 16, we ask to see the results slip given to your by your school on GCSE results day).

For students with no qualifications – we offer adult GCSEs, functional skills and for students aged 16-18 we offer a full time GCSE Retake programme.

I’m an adult learner, can I apply to your college?

Yes, we offer several courses across the group for adult learners.

Do you offer distance learning?

At the moment we do not offer distance learning.

Although some of our courses have a combination of online and in college learning.

I made an application but have not received any further correspondence

Do you have mid-year intakes?

For students aged 16-18 the normal start date is September.

For adults, please see the Key Facts on the course leaflet pages for start dates.

Will I need a reference?

Some courses within the South Thames Colleges Group do require a reference before confirmation of enrolment.  If the course you have chosen requires this – you will be contacted via email to request this.

What days of the week is the course delivered on?

How many hours a week will I be in college?

For most full time courses, the timetable can be any time Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm.

For all other funding streams, this will depend on the type of course and number of applications.  Please ask the individual College for more accurate information on a particular course.

How much will my tuition fee be?

I’m on benefits, will I get the course for free?

All courses have individual tuition fees.  For students aged 16-18 there is not normally a charge. Please contact your preferred college for more information.

There are some fee waivers, but these are assessed on an individual basis  - please contact your preferred college for more information.

What courses are available for students who need a visa?

Currently only available at Kingston College.

My grades are better than I thought they would be, can I enrol on a higher level?

Your actual grades will be discussed at your enrolment appointment and you will be enrolled on the most appropriate level.

I have an EHCP or other support needs – what help will I received?

For students with an EHCP – you will be required to attend a support interview to ensure we can support you whilst at college.

For students without an EHCP – all support will be tutor led (i.e. large font handouts, extra time in exams etc).

Will I be able to visit the college before I apply/enrol?

We hold open events throughout the year, once you apply you will usually  be invited into College for an applicant day.

Can I sit an exam only at your college?

No, we do not offer this facility.

Do I have to attend my enrolment in person?

The normal practice is for students to attend in person on a given day and time.

How do I apply for an Oyster card?

Applications are online using the TFL website.

   

How many students will be in my class?

Class sizes are average – we are unable to confirm for individual courses.

When will I get my timetable?

Timetables will be issued to students during induction week.  If you have lost your timetable please go to your school office for a replacement.

I have fees to pay – can I do it online?

For most courses, in year fees need to be paid in person at your chosen college or you can contact Admissions to pay by card over the phone.

Can I pay my tuition fees in instalments?

We do offer instalments for certain courses – please contact your chosen college for more information.
