Before you enrol, you'll have a short test with one of our tutors to help us decide if a GCSE course or a Functional Skills course is the right one for you.

If you've already completed a functional skills course, please bring your certificates with you when you come in for your test.

If you don't have a formal qualification in English or maths then you can take this course for free as long as you get a good enough mark on your assessment.

  • Course Content

You will work towards the Edexcel Functional Skills and AQA GCSE English and maths qualifications.

  • Progression Next Steps

Progression from Functional Skills L2 or Pre-GCSE courses can lead to GCSE.

Within Functional Skills, you can progress from Entry Level to Level 1 and Level 2.

  • Additional Information

How to apply You'll need to take an assessment before you can enrol on the course so we can put you on the right level.

  • Course Structure

When and where can I study? You can study in the daytime or evening.

All GCSE courses run one day or one evening a week for three hours.

Functional Skills courses run either twice a week in the day time for 2.5 hours each day or one evening a week for 3 hours.

Your tutor will discuss options when you come in to enrol.

What you'll pay If you don't have a formal qualification in English or maths GCSE at grade C (or grade 4), then you can take this course for free as long as you get a good enough mark on your assessment.

All Functional Skills courses in English and maths are free.

  • Assessment Details

You will be assessed throughout the length of the course to help you and the tutor identify your progress before sitting an externally set and externally marked exam.
