Guitar Playing Skills
Whether you are picking up the guitar for the first time or looking to take your skills to the next level, our 9-week Guitar Mastery Course provides structured, hands-on learning. You'll develop essential techniques, expand your musical knowledge, and gain confidence playing your favourite songs. This course is designed for learners who want clear guidance, practical exercises, and measurable progress.
Learn and improve the basics of playing guitar on this course, including basic chords, techniques and scales, and play songs of your choice. You will practise notation and tunes individually with one to one input from your tutor. Songs will be on the pop, rock, folk and blues .
Please note that you need to bring your own guitar.

Entry Requirements
No prior experience required for beginners but Improvers should have fundamental chord and strumming knowledge. -
Course Content
On the course you will learn:Beginners
*Notation; guitar tablature & chord diagrams
*Strumming Patterns (4/4 3/4, 6/8, shuffle)
*Open Chord, barre chords & Chords Extensions
*Linear & alternate fingerpicking patterns
*Songs which include core techniques
Improvers:
*Notation: rhythm, fingerpicking & lead guitar tablature
*Strumming patterns(offbeat, muted, 2-bar, double-time etc)
*Half/full barre CAGED chords & altered chords
*Plectrum techniques: bend, slide, hammer-on, pull-off, mute etc
*Songs at the intermediate level

Teaching and Learning
This course takes an active, hands-on approach to learning guitar. Each session combines guided instruction with plenty of time for playing, listening, and experimenting. Students will learn through demonstration, group practice, and individual feedback, building confidence and musicality week by week.Active learning strategies, such as peer collaboration, rhythm exercises, and short creative challenges, encourage students to apply new techniques immediately and develop their own musical voice.
No matter your starting level, the focus is on participation and progress. By the end of the course, learners will be able to play complete pieces, read basic notation or chord symbols, and understand fundamental concepts of rhythm, melody, and harmony through direct, engaging practice.
