We offer a wide range of Access to Higher Education (HE) Diplomas designed to fit around your lifestyle. The Diploma is a one year long course designed for adults aged 19+ who wish to return to education, retrain or progress to undergraduate study.
Access to HE Diplomas are one year, full time or part time and are nationally recognised Level 3 qualifications, validated by the awarding body OCN (Open College Network).
Applicants may be required to sit separate GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics in conjunction with their course if they do not already have these qualifications at grade C/4 or above. This will enhance progression opportunities.
Access courses are a great route into university or work. As well as learning all about your specialist subject, you'll work on your study and communication skills to prepare you for higher education. We have a dedicated team of education advisers and we'll give you lots of help you with your UCAS application - giving you the best chance of securing the university of your choice.
Progression
Upon successful completion you can apply to undergraduate courses offered by universities and colleges including the South Thames Colleges Group. There are many reasons to continue your studies with us, notably our undergraduate courses offer lower tuition fees providing excellent value and our class sizes are smaller.
You are advised to check that you meet specific university entrance requirements for the course you plan to study on completion of your Access to HE Diploma, as these will vary from one course to another. For some courses, compulsory subject requirements may also apply.
Advanced Learner Loans
If you are aged 19 or over, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to help pay Tuition Fees charged by the College. It is easy to apply, your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,725 per annum and repayments do not start until the April of the year following the course end.
