With real incomes falling and personal debt at a record high, it's vital to improve your personal finance skills. This one day workshop gives you practical guidance on compiling a personal budget and using it to make good decisions about your spending.

    A basic level of English and IT is needed.

    At the end of this course you should be able to:

    Understand financial terms Understand the purpose and benefits of having a bank or building society account Be able to compare personal income with expenditure and budgeting How to make savings in weekly expenditure Outline features of savings accounts
    Identify reasons why borrowing money could be necessary Outline the features of different ways to borrow money Understand the purpose of insurance

    Please bring A4 cartridge paper. The college will provide pens and ink.

  • Course Structure


    The workshops are all delivered in groups ( approx 8-10 learners). Workshops run each term and last for 2 hours. Learners are encouraged to participate in class activities and work in groups. Learners are given resources to take away after the workshops and are also invited to book a follow up one to one careers appointment if they wish.
