Upcycle And Repurpose Clothes

This course will help you recycle your clothes by redesigning, altering or making basic repairs.

You can use machine or hand sewing and use the fabric in unwanted clothes to make many other items other than garments such as Memory blankets or pillows, patchwork items, bags etc.

You will be shown how to transfer your ideas onto pattern paper and how to use various sewing techniques on the machine, or by hand to create your design.

  • Course Content


    Basic alterations by hand or machine to take up trousers or skirts. Use a machine to sew a zip or make a buttonhole.

    Measuring and transferring your ideas onto pattern paper.

    Construction of the item using a sewing machine or by hand.

  • Additional Information


    For the first lesson will all students please bring scissors, thread, pins, and a tape measure.

    If you know what you want to make please bring your clothes and ideas with you.

    If you need some inspiration, the tutor will have plenty of ideas and samples to show you.

    Learners may be able to get this course free if they are receiving income-based benefit or on a low income.
