Digital Media - BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate

This course is ideal if you want to develop skills and knowledge of software and hardware and gain a greater understanding of the IT industry. It will advance your problem-solving skills and give you an introduction to this rapidly expanding industry.

  • Entry Requirements


    We will invite you to a Meet the Tutor event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

    You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

    4 x GCSE's at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.

    Your GCSE profile must include either maths and / or English , or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and / or English.

  • Course Content


    Focusing on using software, you'll cover all aspects of computer systems and carry out basic installation and configuration. You'll learn how to design and create databases, edit computer-generated images and develop websites, video and other assets. The units will develop your team work skills applied to computing and IT. We also have an arrangement with Microsoft DreamSpark so you'll be able to download MS programming and operating systems software for free.

    After successful completion of this course, you can progress on to our Level 3 IT course to deepen your understanding and improve your job prospects.
