Creative Writing: How to write stories
Creative Writing: Telling Stories is a five-week course designed to help writers of all levels turn ideas into words on the page. Whether you’d like to write for film, TV, theatre or fiction, some storytelling conventions are universal, and this course will delve into these and look at how to apply them for different mediums.
Over the duration of the course, we will look at the storytelling conventions of theatre, film, television, short film and fiction. Through guided writing exercises, analysis of our favourite stories and even games, you will experiment with finding your own narrative voice, plotting story arcs, building characters and character motivation, and sharing your work with your peers. Note: This course focuses on narrative prose and dramatic forms; poetry is not included, although you are welcome to work on poetry within the sessions.
