Mammography Associate Apprenticeship - Level 4
An Apprenticeship in mammography at an associate level is a new route, encompassing a narrow scope of practice for the development of a mammography associates role to undertake routine 2-view mammography.
Mammography Associates work within a multi-disciplinary team in the NHS, undertaking mammography as part of a breast screening programme. Individuals in this role will be technically skilled in operating specialised mammography equipment and be responsible for producing mammography images of consistently high quality to meet rigorous NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) standards.

Entry Requirements
The programme is open to all full time members of staff. Where an employee works part-time, the programme will be developed on an individual basis. To become an apprentice candidates must:- Be 18 years or older
- Be employed in Breast Screening Units or Symptomatic Units
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK
- Have lived in the UK for the last three years
- Have passed and can evidence a level 2 Functional Skill in English AND Maths (or equivalent qualification GCSE old grade C, or new grade 4) or at the minimum ONE of these.
For those who do not hold both of these English and Maths qualifications the apprentice will study the qualification not yet achieved as part of the Apprenticeship. Passing this is a compulsory requirement to progress to end point assessment.

Course Structure
Apprenticeship employers will provide the apprentice with a formal induction and on-the- job training.Programme starts with a five day virtual academic week including a two day induction (via Microsoft Teams) delivered by St George's National Breast Education Centre and South Thames College.
In programme learning will be delivered as a blended model, including learning in groups via Microsoft Teams and use of the College's virtual learning environment, Moodle.
A preparatory end point assessment event will be held (via Microsoft Teams) immediately after the end of the 12 month on programme learning and in advance of the compulsory end point assessment.
The apprentice will be supervised in the workplace to demonstrate consistent good practice over the duration of their training.
