Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship - Level 4

The requirements of this course are:

• A minimum of five GCSES (Including Maths and English Language) at grade 5-9 or B to A*
• In addition, the applicant must have completed either of the following:

1) A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Construction and the Built Environment (E.g., Civil Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Construction, (or a related subject)

2) GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject.

3) Any other relevant Level 3 qualifications, e.g.:

i) Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution ii) A City and Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing, Electrical, Construction, etc.

4) International equivalent of the above.

This apprenticeship programme develops and strengthens core skills while preparing apprentices for specialist subjects at Level 5 or to enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some personal responsibility.

The Level 4 units lay the foundation of learning by providing a broad introduction to construction and different construction management functions. This develops and strengthens core skills while preparing apprentices for specialist subjects at Level 5 or to enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some personal responsibility.

Apprentices will gain a wide range of construction knowledge linked to practical skills gained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios.

Apprentices are involved in vocational activities that help them to develop behaviours (the attitudes and approaches required for a competence) and transferable skills.

By the end of Level 4, apprentices will have sound knowledge of the basic concepts of construction. They will be competent in a range of subject-specific skills as well as in general skills and qualities relevant to key areas of construction.

This course incorporates:

• Effectively planned trips, with a direct relevance to the syllabus, which would add value to the learning experience.
• Employer links: -Guest speaker Experts from industry or visiting academics in the subject area that is being studied. -Workshops are used to build on knowledge shared via tutors and seminars.

• PART 1: BTEC QUALIFICATION

Methods of teaching includes lectures, tutorials, workshops, and supervised study, as well as online teaching. For the L4 BTEC Apprenticeship, 15-credit unit at Level 4 - will be assessed by a mandatory Pearson-set assignment targeted at skills. All other units are assessed by centre-devised internal assignments. An assessment schedule will be delivered in the beginning of the course.

• PART 2: End Point Assessment

Upon completion of the BTEC l4 qualification, the apprentices will ned to undertake the end point assessment, which is assessed by Chartered Institute Of Building (CIOB) and in line with the institute for apprenticeships and technical education The EPA consists of 3 discrete assessment methods. The individual assessment methods will have the following grades:

1) Assessment method 1: Online test ·

2) Assessment method 2: Project

• Pass · Fail · Distinction

3) Assessment method 3: Professional discussion

• Pass · Fail · Distinction

4) Performance in the EPA will determine the overall apprenticeship standard and grade of:
