Excel Beginners

This course builds on the Beginners' Excel course. This course provides a supportive environment for people who are comfortable with the fundamentals of Excel. The course focuses heavily on functions. You will learn how to use Microsoft Help to understand any function.

  • Entry Requirements


    Completion of the South Thames Beginners' Excel course. Or, you will need to be familiar with Excel fundamentals, for example data formats (number, text etc.), making simple formulae to add, subtract etc. and understand basic Excel navigation and terminology.

    By the end of the course you'll be able to:

    Explain the structure and components of a function Use the following Excel functions: SUM, AVERAGE, MODE, MEDIAN, COUNT, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUMIF, SUMIFS, AVERAGEIF Solve practical domestic and work-place problems using Excel Use Excel Help to understand how any Excel function works Learn more advanced Excel terminology Use filters and drop-down lists *You will practise answering a typical job interview Excel test.
