BTEC L2 First Extended Certificate In Business

The BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business is a vocational qualification which will help you develop the knowledge and skills that are essential for academic success. As well as improving your employability skills you will study for a nationally recognised qualification.

Learners can participate in trips, debates and employer engagement. The course will help develop learners' confidence by ensuring that they experience a range of both learning and assessment opportunities.

All learners will also get a chance to improve their literacy and numeracy to level 2, either with a programme of study that includes GCSE English and maths, or Functional skills English and maths.

  • Entry Requirements


    2-4 GCSEs grades 3 and above

    Successful completion of internal assessment may also be required.

  • Course Content


    You will study a total of nine units which may include:

    Enterprise in the Business World Finance Marketing Business Online Promoting a Brand Introducing Law & Consumer Rights

    Some units may be recommended by local employers that we work closely with, making them relevant in today's Business world!

  • Progression Next Steps


    Successful completion of this course could lead to progressing onto our L3 courses in Business and also to:

    • �An apprenticeship at L2 or L3 • �Business Level 3 course • �Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship. • �Study another Level 2 vocational qualification in a different subject area to complement this course • �Gain an entry level job role within the business industry such as an Office Administrator/Assistant or Retail Assistant

  • Course Structure


    This course will be delivered over 3/4 days and will provide learners the opportunity to re-sit their GCSE English and/or Maths or Functional Skills in English and/or Maths

    You will also be expected to attend a work placement once a week.

  • Assessment Details


    Assessment is an integral part of our students' learning process as it helps deliver a 'learner first' approach, whilst developing and stretching learners' personal learning and thinking skills.

    You will be assessed on coursework, written assignments, presentations, in-class tests and external exams for mandatory units.
