  • Course Structure

This course runs over nine weeks, with sessions held once per week. It is designed for learners to progress from design planning and technical understanding to creating a finished knitting or crochet project. Each week combines demonstrations, guided practice, and independent work.

  • Assessment Details

Learner progress will be assessed through a combination of:

*Tutor Feedback: Ongoing guidance and constructive feedback during class activities, swatch creation, and project work.

*Homework/Independent Practice: Tasks to reinforce skills learned in class, including swatches, pattern drafting, and small practice projects.

*Learner Self-Assessment: Reflection on personal progress, evaluation of completed work, and identification of areas for improvement to support independent learning.

*This approach ensures learners receive continuous support, develop self-awareness of their skills, and are able to apply techniques confidently in their final projects.

  • Teaching and Learning

This course combines demonstrations, guided practice, and independent work to help learners develop knitting and crochet skills. Students will explore design ideas, select yarns, and practice techniques through creating swatches and testing tension. They will learn to take accurate measurements, draft schematics, and write clear patterns, applying technical knowledge to their own designs. Throughout, the tutor provides individual guidance, feedback, and group discussions, supporting learners to progress from planning to producing a finished piece.
