Guitar Playing Foundations

Learn and improve the basics of playing guitar on this course, including basic chords, techniques and scales, and play songs of your choice. You will practise notation and tunes individually with one to one input from your tutor. Songs will be on the pop, rock, folk and blues.

    On this course you will learn:

    Notation; guitar tablature & chord diagrams Strumming Patterns (4/4 3/4, 6/8, shuffle) Open Chord, barre chords & Chords Extensions Linear & alternate fingerpicking patterns *Songs which include core techniques

    Improvers: Notation: rhythm, fingerpicking & lead guitar tablature Strumming patterns(offbeat, muted, 2-bar, double-time etc) Half/full barre CAGED chords & altered chords Plectrum techniques: bend, slide, hammer-on, pull-off, mute etc *Songs at the intermediate level

  • Additional Information


    Materials Please bring your own guitar, tuner, capo, plectrums, pen & paper. If using an electric guitar please bring battery powered amp & lead, We are sorry but for safety reasons mains operated amps cannot be used.

  • Assessment Details


    Your teacher will give you feedback and advice. There is no final exam.
