Our Technology, Engineering and Construction (TEC) Centre opened in June 2016, the result of a £10 million investment to create an amazing learning space for our students at the same time as creating a modern facility using state of the art sustainable technologies. It consolidates the construction, engineering and motor vehicle curriculum areas into one single central location for over 900 students.
Building Facilities
This striking modern building provides state of the art workshops and the training areas have been designed to be as realistic as possible to real life working conditions with individual booths to learn each specialist trade. The Centre is housed on 3 floors and offers a variety of Full Time, Part Time and Apprenticeship courses to 200 Motor Vehicle students with BTEC and IMI Diplomas, 200 Gas students, Electrical Apprentices with City & Guild qualifications and 300 Construction students with C-Skills and City & Guilds Diplomas in Carpentry, Plumbing, Brickwork, Plastering and Multi Skills.
Our Group Principal and CEO, Peter Mayhew-Smith, commented on the official opening of the TEC Centre: “Our new TEC Centre will transform learning for our students. We now have industry-standard spaces and equipment on a huge scale with opportunities for them to immerse themselves in the crafts and trades they love. The builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and mechanics of tomorrow will learn their skills here today.”
This flexible, modern teaching environment we hope will inspire students and staff and improve the environment, experience and quality of the delivery of construction, engineering and motor vehicle courses.
