Community Interpreting Assessment Session
Please note that all interpreting assessment sessions are delivered online
Are you a Professional Interpreter and you would like a formal qualification? Or are you aspiring to get into this field? If so the Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting Qualification is perfect for you. This Open College Network (OCN) Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting is the minimum requirement for interpreters and one which is accepted throughout the industry for the majority of paid interpreting assignments. Once you have complete level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting you will be able to work directly with Language Service Providers. Community Interpreting courses are accredited, it is not possible to simply enrol on the course. You must complete an initial assessment and induction session before you enrol in any of the Community Interpreting Level 3 Part 1 courses. although the assessment session is online, you must enrol in person for this assessment session.
To enrol for this session you must come to enrol in person ( Wandsworth or Tooting) and bring the original of the following documents: for UK/British Students Passport Birth Certificate Driving Licence
For EU/EEA Students Passport ID Card EU Settlement status: letter or website photo screenshot
*Employed earning less than £21157.50 gross income annually please bring Payslips covering the last 3 months before enrolment online or printed
*Unemployed, looking for work and in receipt of benefits with a household income lower than £541/month please bring any proof of benefits online or as a letter within the last 3 months

Introductory Course Info HE
This is an online session to assess your English in order to progress onto a Community Interpreting Part 1 course. The assessment is delivered face to face but you must come to the college to enrol in person. All our Part1 and Part2 interpreting courses are delivered online -
Entry Requirements
You must be 18 or over Be able to use the 4 skills fluently English Entry L3 or above Be able to read, write and speak fluently in your community language - most students are native speakers of this. The community languages accepted to study the course with us are: Arabic; Bengali; Bulgarian; Farsi; French; Greek; Hindi; Italian; Japanese; Mandarin; Nepalese, Polish; Portuguese; Russian; Spanish; Tamil, Turkish; Urdu; Romanian; Somali Be able to use WORD to write your assessments. Be able to send an email with a WORD attachment. Be able to use Zoom to attend the community interpreting part 1/part 2 courses -
Course Content
During this online induction & assessment session you will find out more about Community Interpreting, will meet the course tutor and will have an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about working in this field. We will also undertake assessments to ensure that the course is at the right level for you. We aim to assess the accuracy of your written & spoken English. Following the induction session, successful candidates will be contacted via email by the tutor to enrol in the community interpreting Part 1 courses ( which are delivered online) -
Progression Next Steps
If successful you can enrol in any of our community Interpreting courses part 1. All our interpreting courses Part1 and Part2 are online. After this assessment the tutor will inform you within 48 hours of the result of the test via email. -

This assessment session is not free and does not have concessions, the fee for this session is fixed at £10. Please bear in mind the assessment session will be delivered face to face , you can start your enrolment online but you must complete your enrolment in person at the college (Wandsworth or Tooting). Written test in English ( free writing) completed during the face to face session English oral assessment conducted by the tutor during the face to face session
