LE Tai Chi for beginners

Tai Chi and Qigong are great for health and joyous movement - join a class for developing calmness and balance in body and mind.

  • Entry Requirements


    There are no entry requirements other than the basic ability to be able to walk reasonably well and climb a few stairs. You should wait a while before starting if you've had very recent surgery or an injury. The class is suitable for any age group. You're encouraged to learn at your own pace and energy level.

  • Course Content


    Tai Chi develops calmness and balance of body and mind. It is based on an ancient Chinese martial art form which has developed over the years and is practised all over the world. You will learn and develop a series of slow, gentle movements taking into account physical posture, mental focus and controlled breathing.

    This form of exercise is reputed to have good health benefits such as:

    • Reducing stress levels
    • Improving balance
    • Increasing muscle strength in your legs
    • Improving general mobility and flexibility

    you can move onto the same course the following term to develop you skills further. You may wish to carry on learning and practicing for many years and apply it to everyday life. It's possible to practice with a group locally during the summer break.
